For the Love of Reese and Jason Wu!

February 8th, 2010

Reese Witherspon had the honor of wearing a Fall 2010 Jason Wu design, or should I say – Jason Wu had the honor of being worn by Reese? I think the latter. She wore a black lace and grey silk/cotton faille strapless dress with black satin belt to An Unforgettable Evening Benefiting EIF’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel on January 27, 2010 in Beverly Hills, California. She looks awesome as always! When will she come out in a new film!?

Valentines is coming and hearts are a glow!

January 28th, 2010

It seems like everyone I know is getting married or having kids! Leaving out the kids part – its been a romantic year and 2010 will not disappoint either! This valentines will be a heart filled ones with many designers adorning their purses, clothing and jewelry with that classic symbol of love. How can you deny that its something we all hold dear, even if we’re not the girly type. Every one of us at some time during childhood drew hearts on our notebooks, lockers or hands with daydreams of boys and love. Guess came out with an especially cute set of heart covered watches and charms this year and I just had to show you. I’m hoping I’ll get a watch but I cant be too picky, I know I’ll get something nice.
love!

MARIA SHARAPOVA’S FIRST VOLLEY IN THE WORLD OF FASHION

August 28th, 2009

Tennis Icon Debuts Signature Fashion Collection by Cole Haan in New York City on Eve of The US Open

New York City, Thursday, August 27, 2009: Maria Sharapova’s latest volley is in the world of fashion!

Just days before taking the court for the US Open Championships, twenty-two year old tennis star Maria Sharapova unveiled her Maria Sharapova by Cole Haan collection of handbags and footwear – at Rockefeller Center in New York City.

Fans, tourists, and onlookers burst into cheers as Sharapova was introduced by celebrity MC Quddus on a specially constructed stage where Maria unveiled her new advertising campaign for Cole Haan.

“Everyone loves Maria. It’s great to be working with her and adding a new dimension to Cole Haan’s history,” states Jim Seuss, Chief Executive Officer.

Children from the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center’s Junior Tennis Development Program, New York Junior Tennis League, and the City Parks Foundation were thrilled to meet their tennis icon.

Sharapova’s collaboration with Cole Haan began with sketches, mood boards, and inspirations from the tennis star. Maria’s on-the-go, international lifestyle inspired this chic collection. Maria infused aspects of her playful personality into every detail of the line from the polished buckles of the shoes, to the leather wrapped chain straps of the handbags.

“It’s my hope that other young women will embrace the spirit of the collection; it’s fun, chic, fashionable and most importantly, able to take you from day to night,” says Sharapova.

The Maria Sharapova by Cole Haan footwear collection, featuring Nike Air technology, includes a ballet flat, an ankle-wrapped stiletto, a flat over-the-knee boot, an ankle bootie and a strappy platform sandal. With prices ranging from $138 – $328, the collection offers luxe options at an attainable level.

Highlights of the handbag offering include a small frame clutch, a lambskin hobo, and Maria’s signature chain-link satchel in a range of eye-catching colors. Each silhouette is characterized by an oversized pleating detail, creating a luxe, yet casual feel. Prices range from $248 for a convertible clutch to $428 for a lambskin hobo.

Mexican style

July 6th, 2009

2 weeks in Mexico showed me a few things, mostly good food and brightly colored signs but also some great fashion here and there. Mainly Ed Hardy and Nike at blow out prices but also a little bit of Americana hometown designers like Erhart Design showed up (thanks to me).

Here’s my friend Raul and me with a great new piece by Erhart Design. Its a scarf but we spent most the trip using it to stay cool, carry my lenses and cameras incognito as a handbag and to protect my shoulders from the hot sun. It’s one of the most diverse designs by Erhart and also one of their most simple. Take a look at their other designs and their ever diverse mix and match capabilities. Original fabrics, old school cuts and color combos – I own about 4 pieces now and adding regularly. Erhart’s probably my favorite Portland designer. check it out.

Jewelry to Empower Disadvantaged Women

Jewelry Collection Will Help Empower Disadvantaged Women: Neunique Partners With
Bottomless Closet
By Polina Fashion LLC
Dated: May 27, 2009

Jewelry collection Neunique announced that it has joined forces with New York charity Bottomless Closet to empower women to gain financial independence.

Bottomless Closet provides professional attire, resume review and professional development workshops for disadvantaged women in New York City. To further their cause, Neunique will donate 20 percent of the proceeds from its latest collection, Samsara, to the charity. Neunique founder Sophie Blake is also donating her time and fashion-sense to Bottomless Closet, helping women dress and prepare for their first day of work.

“I chose the charity because I believe that it is a charity that speaks to our current economic situation,” explained Blake. “It reminds many of us how fortunate we are to have jobs, but also gives us the ability to help other women, empowering those in need who have limited financial resources or knowledge to step out into the job market confidently.”

Since founding Neunique in 2008, Blake has strived to foster an awareness of the social injustices facing women across the globe through her designs. She plans to continue partnership with charities that will alternate depending on the season and range from helping women gain social independence, like Bottomless Closet, to aiding women’s health initiatives.

Neunique is a one-of-a-kind line of exquisite earrings, necklaces and rings that are influenced by Blake’s own European heritage, American vintage design, and her progressive and innovative attitude. Each statement piece is crafted with handpicked semi-precious stones and set in wire or wapped in gold and silver plating in Blake’s New York City studio.

Neunique’s designs embody the powerful woman of today: sexy and playful, yet professionally ambitious and socially conscious. The pieces are versatile and can easily go from a day in the office to a night on the town.
