2 weeks in Mexico showed me a few things, mostly good food and brightly colored signs but also some great fashion here and there. Mainly Ed Hardy and Nike at blow out prices but also a little bit of Americana hometown designers like Erhart Design showed up (thanks to me).

Here’s my friend Raul and me with a great new piece by Erhart Design. Its a scarf but we spent most the trip using it to stay cool, carry my lenses and cameras incognito as a handbag and to protect my shoulders from the hot sun. It’s one of the most diverse designs by Erhart and also one of their most simple. Take a look at their other designs and their ever diverse mix and match capabilities. Original fabrics, old school cuts and color combos – I own about 4 pieces now and adding regularly. Erhart’s probably my favorite Portland designer. check it out.

Jewelry Collection Will Help Empower Disadvantaged Women: Neunique Partners With
Bottomless Closet
By Polina Fashion LLC
Dated: May 27, 2009

Jewelry collection Neunique announced that it has joined forces with New York charity Bottomless Closet to empower women to gain financial independence.
Bottomless Closet provides professional attire, resume review and professional development workshops for disadvantaged women in New York City. To further their cause, Neunique will donate 20 percent of the proceeds from its latest collection, Samsara, to the charity. Neunique founder Sophie Blake is also donating her time and fashion-sense to Bottomless Closet, helping women dress and prepare for their first day of work.
“I chose the charity because I believe that it is a charity that speaks to our current economic situation,” explained Blake. “It reminds many of us how fortunate we are to have jobs, but also gives us the ability to help other women, empowering those in need who have limited financial resources or knowledge to step out into the job market confidently.”
Since founding Neunique in 2008, Blake has strived to foster an awareness of the social injustices facing women across the globe through her designs. She plans to continue partnership with charities that will alternate depending on the season and range from helping women gain social independence, like Bottomless Closet, to aiding women’s health initiatives.
Neunique is a one-of-a-kind line of exquisite earrings, necklaces and rings that are influenced by Blake’s own European heritage, American vintage design, and her progressive and innovative attitude. Each statement piece is crafted with handpicked semi-precious stones and set in wire or wapped in gold and silver plating in Blake’s New York City studio.
Neunique’s designs embody the powerful woman of today: sexy and playful, yet professionally ambitious and socially conscious. The pieces are versatile and can easily go from a day in the office to a night on the town.

Jewelry line Alex and Ani (named after creator/designer Carolyn Rafaelian’s daughters) was founded on two guiding concepts: 1. Jewelry should not only adorn the wearer’s body, it should also empower by connecting her to a mystical, spiritual narrative. 2. Every woman should have a perfect jewelry fit. The brand achieves this through sacred symbols and stones bedecking their offerings, and the signature expandable collection features an adjustable sliding closure mechanism, so size is never an issue.
This seasons line is full of eco friendly designs with recycled metals and cruelty free feather collection. Limited collection! Check them out!

When I used to think of jumpsuits, I would think of tall gangly church-ladies and pantsuits. I was glad to clear up my confusion when I rediscovered them a eyar or so ago and since I’ve been in love with their comfort, diversity and style. Finding a stylish one is key, an ugly jumpsuit isnt cool in a funny way even, its just gross. I recently made that mistake in September, buying an all jean jumpsuit, then I realized i looked like a mechanic.. and a scary one. It also takes knowing what is flattering for your body type. We are mostly not 6 foot tall women with perfect asses so its nice to know that as jumpsuits get more popular they also become more diverse. Check ours out here!

Jumpsuits are the epitome of cool comfort

Holiday Vacation Time!
Check out these top Holiday destinations. Why stay at home when you can travel in style!
1. Michigan Avenue, Chicago: It may be because of the home-court advantage, but you can’t beat the Mag Mile when it comes to holiday shopping. Yes there tends to be more than a few tourists, but it adds to the holiday merriment. Michigan Avenue has something for everyone — from GAP to Gucci you’ll find stores in your price range and presents for the whole family. Add the numerous public transportation options and you’ve got shopping gold, even on a budget.
2. Union Square, San Francisco: From high-end window shopping on Chestnut St. to everyday shopping in Union Square, San Francisco has something for everyone. Head through the Dragon Gates of one of the original Chinatowns for everything from inexpensive souvenirs to higher end wares including jewelry and furs.
3. Sawgrass Mills, Fort Lauderdale: I consider myself somewhat of an expert shopper, having been from outlet to boutique and back again. Sawgrass Mills Outlet is by far the best outlet mall I have ever laid eyes upon. It’s a 30-minute drive from downtown Fort Lauderdale but well worth it. (*Tip: consider renting a car for the day. A cab could run upwards of $70 both ways, so the rental car will pay for itself). You will find every store imaginable, so leave the faint of heart at the hotel, and plan to spend an entire day here.
4. 5th Avenue Manhattan, New York: Definitely a shopping mecca, Manhattan has a rich history with many iconic stores. Visit Tiffany’s flagship store at 5th and 57th or the first Saks 5th Avenue at 5th and 50th. Head across the street to American Girl Place and pick up something for that favorite niece.
5. Nassau/Paradise Island: Label lovers will delight in the many brand name boutiques Nassau has to offer. Jewelry, perfume, handbags and the lot are bountiful… and the best part is it’s all duty free! So hit up Gucci and Fendi on Bay Street and save while shopping (not an oxymoron). Plus you can have fun bargaining for cutesy souvenirs and t-shirts at the Straw market.
Other Tips:
Inclusive vacation deals are cheaper
Rising airfare and hotel rates can only be beat with everything is bundled into a single vacation package.
Many travel companies offer a set vacation package with a set itinerary.
Several online travel agencies, like Travelocity, Southwest Air Vacations (SWV) and Priceline, specialize in creating a more individualized trip.
You can book your own departure and return flight, set the number of nights you want to stay and decide where you want to go when you get there.
Bundle your vacation with a special holiday theme
Apart from the usual holiday vacation to DIsneyland or Diseny World, themes can be added to spice up the trip.
Southwest Vacations now offers a selection of theme vacations tailored to your interests and destination. Take a specially designed family themed trip to a theme park, sneak off to a golf-themed vacation or ski packaged trip.
Vacation Packages to Las Vegas and other destinations
The most popular holiday vacation packages are to Las Vegas, NV. Vacation packages to New York shopping sprees have been reportedly still strong despite the economy. SWA Vacations has a special Las Vegas vacation package that can be booked to fit your schedule.
This holiday season doesn’t have to be spent at home. Instead of exchanging gifts, pool your savings and book an experience that the family will remember long after the gifts are put away.
